Md. Ashraful Islam: The Crown Princess Mary of Denmark has arrived in Bangladesh on a three-day visit to see the plight of the Rohingya camp at Cox’s Bazar and the people at risk in the Sundarbans.
When he arrived at Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport on Monday morning, he was welcomed by Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.
On the first day of the visit, the Danish princess paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganobhaban.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between Bangladesh and Denmark in his presence at the Hotel Lo Meridian in the capital at noon.
Foreign Minister Momen and Danish Minister for Development and Cooperation Fleming Muller signed the memorandum of understanding, entitled “Sustainable and Green Framework Engagement” on bilateral cooperation.
Foreign Minister Momen also held a bilateral meeting with Danish Minister Mueller.
The princess will go to Cox’s Bazar in the afternoon. He is scheduled to visit a Rohingya camp on Tuesday.
The Crown Princess will fly to the Sundarbans by helicopter from Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday. There he will talk to people affected by the adverse effects of climate change, as well as forest conservationists.
